APA ITU TEKNOLOGI

Dalam kes ini kita boleh melihatnya dari dua sudut;
1. Teknologi sebagai benda dan
2. Teknologi sebagai proses sosial.

Teknologi sebagai benda merupakan penggunaan pengetahuan saintifik kepada tugas yang praktikal dengan organisasi yang melibatkan 2 M's (men and machines) orang dan mesin.

Teknologi sebagai proses sosial adalah penggunaan saintifik dan lain-lain bidang pengetahuan tersusun kepada tugas yang praktikal dengan susunan sistem berhiraki yang mana melibatkan 'men and machines'

Jadi teknologi bukan saja alat untuk perkembangan sains tetapi juga 'perubah' dalam proses sosial.

Hierra, A (1973): Teknologi merupakan suatu set peralatan dan kemahiran yang digunakan untuk memenuhi keperluan komuniti.

Teknologi boleh dijelaskan satu 'proses' - sesuatu yang mana manusia lakukan untuk menyelesaikan masalah atau untuk mencapai tujuan dan 'produk/menghasilkan' seperti peralatan-peralatan, sesuatu yang boleh dirasa dan wujud dan boleh digunakan untuk memenuhi keperluan kommuniti. (Alexander, R.J. ,1980).

Technology is the application of knowledge, tools and skills to solve practical problems and extend human capabilities.

DEFINITION OF EDUCATION TECHNOLOGY

By definition, technology is applied knowledge. As we apply our knowledge to our home, work, and education, we use technology daily without thinking much about it. Technology should be a way in which we improve our lives. In education, technology is using our knowledge to improve what and how we and our students learn, grow, and develop on many levels .

Technology :

Human innovation in action that involves the generation of knowledge and processes to develop systems that solve problems and extend human capabilities. The innovation, change, or modification of the natural environment to satisfy perceived human needs and wants.

Educational technology - Using multimedia technologies or audiovisual aids as a tool to enhance the teaching and learning process.

Technology education - A study of technology, which provides an opportunity for students to learn about the processes and knowledge related to technology that are needed to solve problems and extend human capabilities.

Educational Technology & Technology Education

• Educational Technology (Information Technology)
• Teaches with technology (uses technology as a tool)
• Primarily concerned with the narrow spectrum of information and communication technologies
• Primary goal : To enhance the teaching and learning process

Technology Education (Technological Studies)

• Teaches about technology as a content area
• Concerned with the broad spectrum of technology (How humans have designed & innovated the natural world)
• Primary goal : Technological literacy for everyone
